Active learning methods are being used in our school for some time. This comes with the fact that we both have vocational and technical students and that these students have a lot of practical lessons. During these lessons the students are ‘working’ on different practical exercises – an active learning method. But when these students have theoretical lessons often the teachers switch over to active teaching and passive learning.
Our project focusses on these theoretical technical lessons and how to teach them in an active learning and passive teaching form. Technical teachers in both our schools sometimes struggle with these methods and are searching for active teaching methods to share their knowledge with their students.
In this project we want examine how we teach the theoretical technical courses, compare how we teach these and search for active methods. We also want to examine if these teaching methods increase the motivation of vocational and technical students.
The project will give some of our vocational or technical students the opportunity to work with students from another country and so develop their intercultural, cooperative and technical skills.
