Teaching Home Automation
Step 1: Build and program a 'Home Automation' system.
Step 2: Answer some questions.
’Home Automation’ versus a ’Classic Electrical Installation’.
- If you want to switch on and off one lamp from two different places, how can you do this with a classical installation (make a drawing). How can you do it with a home automation system (make drawing).
- Make a list of materials you will need for both ways.
- What do you need to do if you want to add a third switch for both systems.
Step 3: Create a presentation.
Divide your class into three (or more) groups. Each group needs to create a presentation (PowerPoint) about ’Home Automation’. The group gets a topic for this presentation and an angle how to look at the problem. They need to have access to internet to find answers on these questions.
1. ’Home Automation for Dummies’.
Use following topics:
Why should I install home automation?
How can I control my system?
2. Search for ’Advantages’ of ’Home Automation’.
Use following topics:
How can 'Home Automation' effect the environment (energy saving, ...)
How can 'Home Automation' make your house safer
(panic button, camera, ...)
3. Search for ’Sales Arguments’ of ’Home Automation’.
Use following topics:
How can 'Home Automation' effect the environment (energy saving, ...)
How can 'Home Automation' make your house safer
(panic button, camera, ...)
Let all off the groups show there presentation for your class. They probably covered most of the topics.
